Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

First time eating here and I really enjoyed it! The decorations are cute and the chicken was great, if I had to give any critiques it would be that there weren't enough fries, they were so good I honestly thought about getting some to go. Definitely going to be coming here again :)

This was the first time and the food was amazing! The atmosphere was very friendly and were treated like family. When giving us the menus they explained the menu and let us know that the food in on the spicy side.

We saw this place the night we were leaving Joe's BBQ place and returned the next night to check it out. When we got there it wasn't very busy and I was worried it may not be that good. But we had just left the Planet Comiccon and were hungry. I ordered the chicken tenders, my daughter got the fried catfish, which she still talks about a week later, and my husband got the fried chicken meal. I also ordered some fried pickles. We all enjoyed our meals and ate everything, I was super surprised that my daughter was able to finish everything because they gave a lot of fried catfish and I was worried she wasn't going to eat all of it, but she did and like I said she keeps reminding me of it!! I don't remember our servers name but he was amazing and kept checking up on us, when he asked if we had been here before we told him no, it was our first time in KC and what we was here for he told us that alot of the customers they got tonight were from the convention as well. Anyways, if we return to KC, Gus's would be on our list of places to eat at again!!

Amazing place to get fried chicken went with my little brother and friend and we absolutely loved it. I tried the catfish and the hush puppies and the seasoned fries and coleslaw were absolutely amazing. The batter on the catfish and the chicken have a little bit of spice to it and gives that little kick and it’s really really delicious. I highly recommend checking this place out if you wanna some good fried chicken in KC.

Hot, crispy, juicy and full of flavor, every time! The mac and cheese is super creamy and cheesy. The collard greens are some of the best I've had. Service was friendly and quick. We will definitely be back!

7/30/25 Ordered via doordash, it arrived quickly and secured. The food is always good. I appreciate the extra effort they put into customer service. Applying a thank you note and securing the food. 01/09/24 The door Dash order came fully sealed. The food always looks and tastes good. The pecan pie is good. Only suggestion for $5 the pie slice should be a little bigger. 9/30/23 Ordered via DoorDash in the evening. My food was packed in a sealed bag. Ordering delivery is risky. I appreciate them taking the time to make the food secure. Food is consistently good, priced well and fresh. 2019 Great tasting chicken. I recommend calling your order in they tend to be busy. But friendly welcoming staff I will return.

Gus’s chicken is seriously the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It’s crispy, juicy, and has just enough spice so it hits without overwhelming. The meat feels fresh and well-seasoned and every bite has crunch and flavor. People say the chicken is the star of the show and I can see why. The sides are solid too and everything comes out hot and satisfying. It’s one of those spots you leave thinking about coming back ASAP.

It was my first time here and I was in the mood for some good fried okra! I also ordered some fried chicken which came with a side of baked beans and slaw! It was all very good. I’m not big on slaw and I hardly order it at any restaurant that I’m at. Their slaw was not overly saturated with dressing like other places. I enjoyed everything that I ordered! This place is definitely worth a try!
